Patricia Briggs
Patricia Briggs “has reached perfection”* in this #1 New York Times bestseller, as Mercy Thompson faces a shapeshifter’s biggest fear... Mercy’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Alpha werewolf Adam Hauptman has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more... After a traffic accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack. They’ve all been abducted. Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related to the political battle the werewolves have been fighting to gain acceptance from the public—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outmatched and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.*The Nocturnal Library

"Yet another great book in the series.

I was actually a little bummed at first when I saw where the story was going. I thought "here we go again, Mercy taking on the world and overcoming things way out of her league." But that's not what happened. There was an interesting plot, several worthy characters and a fight scene that wasn't all about Mercy. This book brought some variety to the series while maintaining the all the things I love about this series."

"Audio relisten thoughts: I love this series on audio. Lorelei King does an amazing job. There are two things about this that make me sad. The first, you'll have to read the book and it will be obvious. The second, the fragile friendship Mercy had built with Honey goes down the drain. I only kinda get it, but this didn't make me happy at all. Honey was one of the few that came around when it came to Mercy.

There is just something about this series I can't get enough of. I can't believe we are up to book seven in this series. While the first four are still my absolute favorites in the series so far, I really enjoyed Frost Burn. After finishing [b:Fair Game|11480917|Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3)|Patricia Briggs|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1309650058l/11480917._SY75_.jpg|6527880], a book in which I finally found a love for Alpha and Omega instead of being on the fence, I was really excited to see what would happen next since what happened in that book affects everything in the Mercy Thompson world.

In Fair Game spoiler: <spoiler>The Gray Lords had declared themselves as their own ruling nation. That the human laws, which viewed fae victims as inconsequential, would no longer have a hold on them.</spoiler> Because of this, this has shaped a new world for Mercy. Which we see bits of the fallout as Mercy races to save her husband and her pack. I'm extremely excited for this. This adds a whole new set of obstacles for both Mercy and for werewolves as a whole. Once, where I thought the series might be in a decline after previously hitting it's peak, I have a renewed hope for Mercy and Adam.

Ms. Briggs is a very crafty storyteller. I was on edge for most of the book. The fate of the pack looked bleak, and Mercy had many things to get done before she could go rescue her mate. There was some frightening aspects to this. A group of men, who may or may not be federal agents, strong enough to take a whole pack hostage is not something to bat your eyes at. Somehow, this series has a way of drawing out many emotions out of me, but one stuck with me. Sorrow. Sorrow was a big one through this. I felt its effects for most of the book. The pack had accurately described "The Heart" of the pack and it's loss will be felt.

I have a renewed hope that this series will go on, at least for a while more. I'm still hoping for more Bran, because I love his interactions with Mercy (as you know only Mercy can get to him like that). I'm happy with this book. I'm happy that Mercy is who she is and looks to be sticking around for a while yet. Looks like the rules just might change, so I'll stick with Not Coyote's Daughter, since she seems to have all the luck."
"I love this series. Adam and Mercy are my favorite paranormal couple (minus those written by Jeaniene Frost). I love how they interact and how they are there for each other. It is a give and take relationship.

I enjoyed reading this book and I was frustrated at the same time. I love Patricia Briggs and her detailed writing but she always seems to get the most detailed when I want to find out how the thing is going to play out! I want her to hurry and tell me about the action while she is waxing poetically about the scene and describing the nuances of a room. The nuances are important but sometimes I just want to know if so and so is going to get out alive.

I love that Briggs always directs her characters down a path that you wouldn't even think is possible. This latest villain is really something and he brings all new problems about and some of the ways he does that seem a bit far-fetched (but in a paranormal book things have a tendency to get far-fetched).

I love the excitement and nail-biting that happened in this book but I'm hoping that the next installment of this series spends some time giving these characters a chance to explore relationships and I would love it if there was a crossover book with Charles and Anna. The characters live in the same "world" so I would love for them to interact more. I did love it that there was a cross-over character in this installment but I would love for there to be actual interaction with Charles and Anna.

I love this author and I loved this book (even though I found it somewhat frustrating) and I can't wait for the next installment even though it will probably be at least another year before there is another story in this series.

Keep 'em coming Briggs!"
