An unforgettable, mesmerizing tale of exquisite obsession, spoiled innocence, and impossible friendships. It's been five years since Summer Marks was brutally murdered in the woods. Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend. That, driven by their obsession with a novel called The Way into Lovelorn, the three girls had imagined themselves into the magical world where their fantasies became twisted, even deadly. The only thing is: they didn't do it. On the anniversary of Summer's death, a seemingly insignificant discovery resurrects the mystery and pulls Mia and Brynn back together once again. But as the lines begin to blur between past and present and fiction and reality, the girls must confront what really happened in the woods all those years ago--no matter how monstrous.

"This book follows the story of the 2 MC's trying to get closure from their friend's death years later. More so than a whodunit mystery, this delves into the inner conflict and emotions of the girls as they grow up and deal with the fact that their friend did not, and that they had a complicated friendship in the first place. Yes, the twist was fun, but the real pleasure from the book were the characters. TW/SPOILER: graphic animal abuse, graphic murder & violence, allusions to CSA, rehab, hoarding, homophobia"
"I wouldn’t normally pick a book with any sort of fantasy element to it, but the allure of a 13 year old girl’s brutal, ritualistic murder was too alluring for me to pass up. That makes me sound like a complete psychopath, but I simply enjoy a good whodunit.<br/>And anyways, it really wasn’t a fantasy at all, anyways. Everything that happened was as real as can be. It wasn’t hard to predict who was responsible for the murder, but I was still surprised with the final outcome and enjoyed every second of this book. Lauren Oliver’s a great author."
"it’s really good i definitely recommend it "
