"This book was phenomenal. It had me glued until I fell asleep, and then I finished it the next morning. Incredible. I can’t even find words for it right now.

I was apprehensive at first because of some reviews saying there was “no point” and “no plot just vibes”. I now see these people must be lacking critical thinking skills and clearly don’t typically dabble in horror writing. This book was a work of art. (Seriously? “Why the centipede?” Did we even read the same book?)

Was it original? In its own way, yes, but it also pulled from many tried and true horror and sci-fi tropes. Which, essentially, *was* the point.

Maybe at some point I’ll write an in depth review… but I don’t think it needs one. The book speaks for itself. If you don’t “get” it, I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe Eric LaRocca is a bit too complex of a writer for you. But as someone with constant existential dread whose brain feels as if it is on another plane of reality most of the time, this book was cathartic, enthralling, and riveting. A masterpiece.

The only other book I’ve read by Eric LaRocca was “Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke”, which I can’t quite give the same praise, but I did devour it in one sitting (which seems to be the way I’ll be reading all of Eric LaRocca’s works.)

This book, though. Unreal. Eric LaRocca knows what he’s doing, and he’s damn good at it too."
"This book was all style with little substance. I found the style of writing to be enjoyable (if a little juvenile at times), however, the plot was very thing. I didn’t like that it was a story within a story, but the nested story was fictional in-universe. I didn’t care about the nested story because it was fictional, as it had no weight on the outer story. I also thought that reading the transcripts between Ambrose? and Martyr was so boring to listen to, and unrealistic with their dialogue.

You're right to not judge a book by it's cover, since in this case the cover is so much better than the book itself."
