For fans of The Grace Year and We Were Liars comes a mesmerizing, can't-put-it-down psychological thriller—a gender-flipped YA Great Gatsby that will linger long after the final lineOn wealthy Commodore Island, Fern is watching and waiting—for summer, for college, for her childhood best friend to decide he loves her. Then Ivy Avila lands on the island like a falling star. When Ivy shines on her, Fern feels seen. When they're together, Fern has purpose. She glimpses the secrets Ivy hides behind her fame, her fortune, the lavish parties she throws at her great glass house, and understands that Ivy hurts in ways Fern can't fathom. And soon, it's clear Ivy wants someone Fern can help her get. But as the two pull closer, Fern's cozy life on Commodore unravels: drought descends, fires burn, and a reckless night spins out of control. Everything Fern thought she understood—about her home, herself, the boy she loved, about Ivy Avila—twists and bends into something new. And Fern won't emerge the same person she was.An enthralling, mind-altering fever dream, Tell Me My Name is about the cost of being a girl in a world that takes so much, and the enormity of what is regained when we take it back.New York Times: "13 Y.A. "A wannabe Great Gatsby, but unendurably boring, full of one dimensional, one note, unlikable characters that are either all nasty or all simpering. All are terrible people. The "main character" is simply insufferable and the "shocking twist" at the end is so egregiously obvious you can predict it right away. I'm sure it was meant to be jarring but really was, at best, anticlamactic. Readers can expect near constant eye rolling from the flowery language. If I read about the MC's "insides dissolving" one more time I'd vomit. In a nutshell, lame. Just read The Great Gatsby & call it a day."
"2.5⭐<br/><br/>Tell Me My Name is a YA Gatsby retelling, and it's the first of many Gatsby-related books that I hope to read now that it's in the public domain! I initially enjoyed this book, but my interest started to wane after a while. It felt like there were two different books happening, and things got unnecessarily complicated for the sake of a twist. I liked the concept more than the execution. <br/><br/>CW - racism, classism, domestic abuse, addiction, cheating, mentions of rape<br/>"
"I’m very thankful I started this book on a lazy Saturday morning so I had nothing else to do but to read all day. And all I wanted to do was read.<br/>This story is tangled and messy and hard to follow at times because of how tangled and messy it is...but oh boy, if you hold on to the end, it’s a journey worth taking. <br/><br/>I can’t say much without giving spoilers, but there is a fine line between love and hate. You won’t be able to tell if you love or hate this until you finish it. For those that do make it to the end, let’s discuss!"

"Thank you #PenguinTeen & #PenguinPublishing for providing a copy of the book through #Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. *All opinions are my own. #Partner<br/><br/>My Review: I am LOVING new retellings of some of my fave well known classic tales, only this time roles are reversed and they are being written gender flipped! Tell Me My Name is a new take on The Great Gatsby, but make it modern/near future, and make it dark and suspenseful. If these are your go-to’s, you’ll love this one. Written in such an inviting, and capturing way.. almost mysterious, and at moments relatable. The writing, and world building flows so appealingly, the characters are the most intriguing and so complex. It’s a beautiful story if you’re willing to dive between the lines. Excellent read! Also, What a beautiful cover!!"
