I'm a Monet. A chameleon. I'm whatever I must be.And what I must be is a flawless daughter, a skilled socialite, and the perfect prize to the man who signed along the dotted line. Not that I'm complaining. I'm all for a contractual agreement, a quick and clean catapult into the next phase of rich girl life. One that takes little thought, less effort, and zero devotion. It's exactly what I want. An impassive life. A calculated future. Or, it was until the lights went out, darkness took over, and I learned what it meant to live.To feel.To fall. But everyone knows what thrives in the night burns in the light and flames were among us. There is no escape. No turning back. No ending within my control. My mother always says our choices determine our consequences.

"I have been seeing a lot of hype around this book and was highly anticipating its release. I have read some of the author's books, so I knew I was in for a delicious treat. My concern is I found something else. While I liked this book, I didn’t love it. It was not my cup of tea. Don’t let my review detour you from reading it, and you could love it.

Here is what I liked—the heroines—all three of them. It's sort of a reverse harem, but the main character is Ranson. All three are kind of crazy. Got to be honest, every time there is a blackout, I will think of them and their games. I did love that part. Blackout games are how this all started. All three are bad boys of a Rich kid town. Blackout is where they shut off power and, within that time, steal, set things on fire, etc. Jameson is the heroine. Her cold-hearted mother raises her and has her life mapped out for her. Jameson very much comes across as the ice queen. Know one, but the three see her for who she really is.

My concern is the book is a slow burn, which I do love. With a slow burn, I expect a detailed plot. The plot is lacking. The beginning started off great, then up to thirty-two percent, the story dragged. I stuck through and kept reading. The plot didn’t pick up until after fifty percent. I almost dnf’d. The character growth of Jameson has so much potential yet fell short. She has only a few moods. I get it, however, as she is the ice queen with issues. We also don’t have Ranson's POV. We never know what he was thinking and why he did some of the things he did. I don’t know about anyone else, but for me, that is big.

Overall the writing was good, and I did like the book. It does fall short on my reread list. I enjoyed the side characters and hope to see them in the future."
