An Amazon Charts bestseller.A double life with a single purpose: revenge.Jane's days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She's just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes--meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven. But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven's bringing out the worst in her.Nothing can distract Jane from going straight for his heart: allowing herself to be seduced into Steven's bed, to insinuate herself into his career and his family, and to expose all his dirty secrets. It's time for Jane to dig out everything that matters to Steven. So she can take it all away.Just as he did to her.

"3.5⭐

I am so torn on this review for Jane Doe. Overall, I did really enjoy this book. This book is exactly what it says it is - no plot twists, no unreliable narrators, just a straight-up revenge psychological thriller.

This book was surprisingly amusing. It's not a comedy, but it had some good comedic relief. I feel like that's pretty rare for the thriller genre, so it was refreshing to see that. Jane is a fairly likeable character, and you don't spent your time hitting your head wondering why she did something.

Now come my problems - like I said, this is a pure revenge psychological thriller without any crazy frills. Because of this, a lot the storyline felt too basic to me. It was a little too predictable, and I wish that it would have been darker. These things don't necessarily make Jane Doe a bad book - it's still an enjoyable read. I just wanted more out of it.

I also felt like all of the characters were a little too stereotypical. I was waiting for one of them to do something that would surprise me, but none of them ever did. I just wish it would have been a little less paint-by-numbers.

Even though I had fun reading this, I am going with 3 stars because I felt like something was missing - maybe not enough risk was taken with the characters and plotlines. I will still try another book from Victoria Helen Stone, and I recommend picking this one up for a lighter summer thriller!"
"Few books make me laugh out loud, but this was one of them! The narrator is hilariously dry and the story is delicious. Content warning for sexual and dating violence, misogyny"
