"This book had me craving hot chocolate nightly, and since it was the most easily attainable of the many delicious dishes discussed, I indulged heavily in the chocolatey goodness every time I picked this book up. Now, I just need to try adding orange and cinnamon like the book recommendation, because that sounds absolutely divine.

I loved the unique magic in this story. I’d never heard of a kitchen witch before and was delighted by the concept of someone who can bake food that inspires luck, love, or any emotion in its consumer. As a lifelong lover of black cats (thanks to animated Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Heebie Jeebie made for the perfect familiar.

While I enjoyed the steamy romance (much steamier than I expected), the relationship felt rushed and overly reliant on physical connection, making the “love” aspect less believable.

Lastly, I appreciate a bit of family drama, but Dina’s refusal to tell her parents she was bisexual so she could resolve her hex drove me a little batty. I understand the fear of coming out—I’ve been there (and still am with some people)—but when it comes to your well-being and the safety of people you care about, you’ve got to step out of that closet and say what needs to be said. Dina’s family gave her no indication they’d be unaccepting, so her fear felt misplaced, which made her hesitation frustrating. Especially when the man she loved was in danger.

Overall, though, this was a magical story with a satisfying conclusion."
