"This was a solid read. Obviously not as fleshed out as The Wheel of Time series (as this book was written before that and perhaps never really meant to be published), but it was very engaging. I felt connected to several characters, not just the protagonist. The world-building was excellent. And I finished the story wishing I could read the next book. Having read The Wheel of Time, I recognized some of the elements in the world, but not so much that it felt repetitive or boring. It was an enjoyable connection to a beloved series. I recommend this for people who have loved The Wheel of Time and feel the book void afterward. It's a nice bridge back into other books from the special world of WoT."
