"I bought this book a month ago and waited until I had the audiobook to read. It is a great book with so much representation. Disability representation as well as queer representation. Thom is a likeable character that is literally just got all the odds stacked against him. He is not a normal hero. But he makes all the other heroes not worthy by the end haha. He is awesome! And I love the parallels between the league and the justice league Because literally everyone was a different character trope from the comic book world. Also I enjoyed the introduction from Stan Lee!!!!"
"Pretty great story about a 16 year old boy (Thom) who discovers he has superpowers and wants to join the league of heroes to prove his worth. Two reasons for giving 4 stars instead of five; 1- some characters were obvious rip offs from current and well known superheroes; 2- I felt that Thom's relationship with Goran could have been more developed. Overall, a good story that anyone who likes the superhero genre will enjoy."
"I love this book, but perhaps that's because its protagonist is gay, and when this book was first published over a decade ago, gay superheroes were incredibly rare. But I also think the book stands on its own merits....while Moore does borrow from the well known superhero archetypes for the background characters in the book, his main characters are clearly unique and fascinating. Its an exciting book that has both an adventure storyline while also spending a lot of time in character development. I would have loved to have seen more stories in this universe and more stories were planned....a sequel and tv series at the very least. Sadly, the author died before he could see these plans to fruition, a tragedy for much more important reasons, but also sad for fans of this book."
"It was a fun, sweet read. Good characters, interesting storyline, excellent lead-in for the series, and the editing was good enough the "we're human" mistakes didn't knock me out of the story. Interesting take on shifters. Really want to find out more about the glyphs and tattoos. Will definitely look for book 2 and the rest of the series when I have money."
