Tish Harrison Warren
Christianity Today Book of the YearIn the overlooked moments and routines of our day, we can become aware of God's presence in surprising ways. How do we embrace the sacred in the ordinary and the ordinary in the sacred? Framed around one typical day, this book explores life through the lens of liturgy—small practices and habits that form us. In each chapter, Tish Harrison Warren considers a common daily experience—making the bed, brushing her teeth, losing her keys. Drawing from the diversity of her life as a campus minister, Anglican priest, friend, wife, and mother, Warren opens up a practical theology of the everyday. Each activity is related to a spiritual practice as well as an aspect of our Sunday worship.Come and discover the holiness of your every day.

"I loved this one. One of the more useful theological reflections I’ve read.

Tish takes us through a day, taking each action or rhythm of daily life and using it as a lens through which to learn something significant about God. As an Anglican priest (ACNA) in the US, she is biased towards liturgical worship, but that’s fine by me as the denominations I’ve chosen for myself as an adult have been Anglican and Catholic! Her voice sounds deeply Anglican yet the reflections I think apply to all Christians.

The back of the book has a discussion guide as well as practice suggestions.

I’ll be going back to this book again and again for the theology, for the gentle nudges to love God and eradicate sin from my life, and for the light thread of Christian self-improvement from an orthodox perspective."
