J. C. Peterson
Move over, Elizabeth Bennet. The most infamous Bennet sister is here to tell her story.Join Lola Barnes, a.k.a. a modern Lydia Bennet, at the beginning of a summer gone truly wrong: where a boat party-turned-fiery-fiasco ends with the ship, Lola’s summer plans, and her reputation truly sunk.(The boat was barely on fire, for the record—and all the partygoers were just fine.)Luckily, this disaster of a summer has another thing in store for her: a path of self-discovery she never saw coming.Given an ultimatum—jail time, or spending the summer with the nonprofit Hike Like a Girl—she laces up her hiking boots and takes to the wilderness. Along the way, she’ll encounter unexpected friends, a sweet romance, strength she didn’t know she had—and herself, Lola, at last. This Pride and Prejudice–inspired tale, a companion to J. C. Peterson’s Being Mary Bennet, spins a modern Lydia Bennet’s life into a tumultuous and hilarious coming-of-age journey, complete with misadventures, misunderstandings, mayhem, and a romance worthy of Darcy and Elizabeth themselves.

"just as amazing and beautiful and cute and hilarious as the last book!! i think jc peterson has captured both the bookish side of me and the nature-loving side of me in this series, and i literally almost cried when i read in the acknowledgments that this is the last book in the barnes sisters series, because i can't get enough of this story, though i will read anything jc peterson writes.
this version of lydia bennet got the BEST redemption in lola at last, and it made me so happy!! and when i tell you i was smiling for half of this book, i'm being dead serious :) and i swear i laughed out loud (yes, like loud enough that people literally looked at me weirdly and i had to explain that this was one of my favorite books ever) at least 10 times while reading this!!
the romance was just as cute as marnie's in the last book, and jc peterson writes some of the best fictional men! also, lola's character development was *chef's kiss* she blossomed beautifully!
ok now for a little rant about the FANTASTIC WRITING OMG: peterson has captured lola's sarcastic stream of consciousness perfectly, and it's clearly unique and different from marnie's in the last book, yet it's just as hilarious and now i want to be best friends with all the barnes sisters because of how amazing and unique each of them are :) i will read any of peterson's future books just for the writing alone! as an aspiring writer, all i can say is WOW"
