"I liked some of the characters well enough but not well enough to keep reading the series. I found the writing style too self-conscious and off-putting. Dialogue wasn't believable; I kept finding myself thinking, "does anyone really talk like that?" The mystery didn't engage me at all and the red herrings were too obviously red herrings. I'd guessed the whodunnit very early on although to say why would likely be a spoiler so I'll just leave well enough alone there. In any case, I kept glancing at the percentage finished on my Kindle to see how much longer I'd have to read until I was done--which is never a good sign. I finished it only because I have a bit of compulsion that way."
"Love cozy mysteries...especially one's with recipes."
