NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Part love story, part workplace drama, this sharply observed novel is a witty critique of the false judgments we make in a social-media-obsessed world, from the author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life.“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover Everywhere Katie Brenner looks, someone else is living the life she longs for, particularly her boss, Demeter Farlowe. Demeter is brilliant and creative, lives with her perfect family in a posh townhouse, and wears the coolest clothes. Katie’s life, meanwhile, is a daily struggle—from her dismal rental to her oddball flatmates to the tense office politics she’s trying to negotiate. No wonder Katie takes refuge in not-quite-true Instagram posts, especially as she's desperate to make her dad proud. Then, just as she’s finding her feet—not to mention a possible new romance—the worst happens. Demeter fires Katie. Shattered but determined to stay positive, Katie retreats to her family’s farm in Somerset to help them set up a vacation business. London has never seemed so far away—until Demeter unexpectedly turns up as a guest. Secrets are spilled and relationships rejiggered, and as the stakes for Katie’s future get higher, she must question her own assumptions about what makes for a truly meaningful life. Sophie Kinsella is celebrated for her vibrant, relatable characters and her great storytelling gifts. Now she returns with all of the wit, warmth, and wisdom that are the hallmarks of her bestsellers to spin this fresh, modern story about presenting the perfect life when the reality is far from the truth.

"Loved it! Cute workplace drama, romance, coming of age (but not really, more becoming comfortable with yourself) book"

"What a fun reprieve!! I really just needed a bit of comedy in my life but I unexpectedly ended up loving this book!! I listened to this on Aubible and Fiona Hardingham was absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend if you're looking for chick lit with a bit of heart. It's perfect for twenty-somethings that don't have a perfect life but love their life anyway."

"Such a light, funny read!

Katie, aka Cat, is a Somerset girl trying to make it in London. One day, her London dream is crushed by Katie losing her job. She bides her job searching time by going home to Somerset, to help her parents open a new glamping business.
When her former boss arrives for a family vacation, Katie can't help but get a little revenge. But things aren't as they seem..

Everything about this plot is so relatable, awkwardness and all. It gives the readers the idea that nobody is perfect, no matter what their life looks like on the outside. I love that there is a moral to this fun, adorable story. I really enjoyed the characters and the rhythm of the story. Perfect for a light, casual read.

I loved every moment of this book. The ending seemed a little too perfect, but I honestly expected it from a chick lit book. My second by Kinsella, I will definitely be looking into more of her work!

See all my reviews on lifeloveliteratureclub.wordpress.com"
"This was your average run of the mill Kinsella book. A charming female figure who is just ****** about an aspect of her life, gives up, and just when she thought she likes things the way they are, she turns it back to actually fighting for what she wants. There was nothing overly special about this book, but did give me something to do. This was an easy read, and nothing emotional to spark. I would recommend this as a flight read for plane rides."
