"This is one of those science fiction books that makes you feel smarter than you really are. It pours out theoretical physics and mathematical theorems in a way that isn’t daunting and overwhelming, while still having a fast-paced creative plot. This book takes on the alien invasion apocalypse genre and turns it into this beautiful story about morality, society, the military industrial complex, religion, science, love, friendship, toxic masculinity, and control. It may seem like that’s a lot of things to be crammed into a book, but Seth has managed to fit it all in and still has a little room for humor, trauma and grief. The book begins with an unsatisfied office worker from New York, Anna Sinjari, encountering an injured alien in a park that tells her that the universe and Earth are in danger. When a mysterious alien object and signal is detected in a small Iraqi Kurdish village that survived Genocide from Saddam Hussein, the military and science communities from all the major governments head to investigate. Since this is the village where Anna was born, the US government picks her up and takes her along for the ride even though the way she left the village haunts her to this day… read this book. Its crazy good."
