From USA Today Bestselling Author Holly Renee, author of the Stars and Shadows series, comes a scorching new fantasy romance that ignites the pages with relentless danger, forbidden passion, and the intoxicating allure of enemies to lovers. Fleeing my father's cruelty, the wicked king who robbed me of a future, I face death in the streets, caught between a rebellion and a tyrant's reign. Captured by those sworn to kill me, the rebels remain blind to my true identity-the missing daughter of the despised king. Faced with an impossible choice, I stand before them: join the rebels or face their blades. Yet, Dacre, the son of the ruthless rebellion commander, becomes torn between suspicion and a desire that mirrors my own. He allows no one to touch me, tries to protect me, yet threatens me at every turn. As secrets are weaved beyond our hidden realm, a fierce battle unfolds within me. As I get closer to the rebels, and their cause, my loyalty to my kingdom clashes with my undeniable devotion to Dacre and the burning connection between us. In a world where love and hate are two edges of the same blade, I find myself caught in a delicate dance between forbidden desire and my looming destiny.

"3.75/5 ⭐️ dual pov and available on KU. I think my expectations were too high with this one. I've heard race reviews and this was good but not great for me. The beginning was slow and a little repetitive. It was also a slow burn but with very little actual tension. The world was simple and world building was very basic. The last 20% were the most exciting but when it finally picked up we are left on a huge cliff hanger. It left me with more questions than answers. Overall it was fine. I'll read the next book but it was not a five star read for me. There was some good spice but it is almost all at the end and the last scene gave me the ick because of the context of the interaction 2.75/5 spice level "
"This was a super fast read for me. There is very little world building so if your brain isn’t in the mood for a deep dive into a new fantasy world, you might enjoy this. I liked the missing princess/hidden identity aspect but I can’t say that MMC, Dacre, is a top tier book boyfriend. I mean…I’m all for enemies to lovers and falling for a morally grey character but usually they have some redeeming qualities. The spice was spicing for sure but this felt more like lust than mates. The cliffhanger end left me with my jaw on the ground. I will likely read the next one. "
"This was a fun, quick, and easy read. I enjoyed it but it felt too much like books I've read before. The whole time I was reading I kept thinking this book feels like a spicy version of Powerless by Lauren Roberts.
If you like enemies to lovers, forbidden love, royalty, rebels, Fae, magic, and spice… this book just might be for you!"
"A quick enjoyable read although it was too short and could have had more world building and use of magic. It was left with quite the cliffhanger. Thankfully the second book is out so no need to wait but it’s shorter than this edition. I just wanted more info on this world and how it all works. I would normally rate a book lower for my frustration of missing info but because I read this in several hours not being able to put it down, I rated it higher."
"Enemies-to-lovers readers gather round because this needs to be one that you add to your TBR right now. If you have KindleUnlimited, better just go ahead and download it and read it immediately! I ate this up in a day! There's secrecy and tension, an MMC who's the perfect alphahole, and if you know me I looooove me an alphahole. He's probably the most perfect one l've read so far. From the moment we meet Dacre to the end of the book, his alpha energy is palpable. And that mouth of his?! Dirty. Dirty. Dirty. But of course we can't forget Nyra, our FMC, who is running away from a ruthless kingdom only to end up with the rebellion where she is forced to stay and fight for them or face death. However, Nyra has a secret that could essentially lead to her demise if anyone were to find out. She finds herself training to be a warrior under Dacre's watch. Each day spent with the rebellion is another day risking her truth to be discovered. Nyra is afraid of trusting anyone while Dacre doesn't trust her at all.. but their forced proximity to each other doesn't stop them from exploring each other on deeper levels.

I truly enjoyed this story and cannot wait for the next one. I think I’m all ready for a re-read honestly cause I still cannot get over the way this ends!"
