"It was a very cozy mystery novel. Most of the book has you meeting and bonding with the characters because everyone has two sides to their coin. I really enjoy how the author never made any issue black-and-white and I felt like each character got that treatment. Also, this is the first character I’ve seen being hunted by a corrupt person in the government. As I said before, love the themes.
However, I just don’t enjoy the writing style and some other moments in the book. One character was hinting at being gay because he gardened and was vegan. Also, I did not feel any attachment to the romance between the main character and another character and it was just kinda meh when the two characters had their romantic moments. Honestly the romance between the minor characters was more interesting. In all, interesting concepts and fun magic system but some of the author’s ideals did not make this a fun book at times."
