Bora Chung
Cursed Bunny is a genre-defying collection of short stories by Korean author Bora Chung. Blurring the lines between magical realism, horror, and science-fiction, Chung uses elements of the fantastic and surreal to address the very real horrors and cruelties of patriarchy and capitalism in modern society.Anton Hur’s translation skilfully captures the way Chung’s prose effortlessly glides from being terrifying to wryly humorous. Winner of a PEN/Heim Grant.

"The first two stories and the last story are fantastic, however the rest of them sort of fell a bit flat and felt like variations on familiar stories. Overall, good collection of stories, it earned 4 stars from me due to the three standouts."

"These are tales of the surreal and strange - an amalgam of magical realism, sci-fi, and elements of horror and humor. Ghosts, curses, monsters, robot, there's a little bit of everything in this collection of ten short stories.
The title story, 'Cursed Bunny', was easily my favorite. This would be a fantastic Black Mirror episode.
'Scars' was a close second - it was interesting and full of lore, sad with a twinge of hope. "
"My first audiobook. I feel bad leaving such a low rating but what in the **** was that. What was that. Getting pregnant from birth control pills? A monster forming in your toilet from your feces/menstrual blood? I was already way too far in to give this up but I really couldn’t tell you what happened in the last few stories because of how uninterested I became. I love scary stories, horror, and thrillers but this was honestly so odd. This should be a genre of its own."
"This is an absolutely vile & incredibly strange collection of short stories. Bora Chung has such a unique voice & deserves way more attention imo. [3.75☆]

"I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. As with any anthology of short stories, i had my favorites and ones i didn’t like so much, but i think Bora Chung is a talented voice in magical realism. I look forward to reading more from her as i grow my collection of female authors who are not afraid of subjects that are gross, sad, and disturbing."
"Man, I love freaky little short stories. i’ll never stop thinking about the first one from this collection, The Head. Some of the others have blended together over time, but I thought it was really chaotic and fun and smart overall. If you liked this, you should check out Bliss Montage, Life Ceremony, and Gods of Want — other freaky little short stories to add to the canon.
Thank you NetGalley & publisher for the free review eARC!
My post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CnQtWC9LY_q/"

I enjoyed reading 5 of out the 10 stories, as they had less of a sci-fi feel and more fantasy or read easier."
