"The Land of Ev is in crisis: the king is dead and the queen and royal children have been sold off to the mysterious Nome King. The only "ruler" is the lethargic Princess Langwidere who cares nothing for government but spends all day admiring her collection of beautiful heads, which she can change at will.

Fortunately for Ev, their neighbor, Princess Ozma of Oz is determined to set things right. Ozma is everything Langwidere is not: kind, responsible, hard-working and driven by a sense of noblesse oblige. With the help of her new friend Dorothy and a quickwitted, no nonsense chicken named Billina, Ozma conquers the crafty Nome King and rescues the royal family. Full of humor, magic, and quirky characters, headed by a princess who exemplifies moral leadership."
"I am now loving these books! They are nutty and weird, occasionally funny, but my five year old is down with them. I am more than happy to work my way through them. The new characters in this one are Tik-Tok, a sort of premodern robot, and a tiger to give the Cowardly Lion some company. I loved the whole Nome King interaction. It's good stuff! I hope we will make our way at least to the end of the FLB books."
