Long before Clark Kent took to the Metropolis skies as Superman, another caped hero protected the crime-ridden alleys of Gotham City - the Batman. Investigating the criminal organization Intergang, the Dark Knight and his partner Nightwing (a.k.a Barbara Gordon) travel to Metropolis to interrogate a two-bit jailbird in Stryker's Island Penitentiary. But Batman's history with this particular prisoner instantly makes the case personal. Unknown to them, the Man of Steel is mounting a similar investigation. When the celebrated super hero and the shadowy urban legend come face-to-face for the first time, will they be able to rein in their infighting and cooperate? The fate of Metropolis might depend on it, after a surprise enemy emerges with the ability to kill Superman. Elsewhere, Lex Luthor continues to be haunted by his not-quite-dead sister, and Green Arrow and Chloe Sullivan struggle to investigate a "Crisis" that destroyed a parellel Earth ... and could soon be hurtling toward our own.
