"A much belated review. Thomas Olde Heuvelt is one of my new favorite writers. He blew me away with Hex. This novel, too, is engaging. It has unique spin on the age old 'possession' tropes that I really enjoyed.
The only reason it doesn't have five stars is I remember it being really slow at some points. As near as I can tell this happens in the same world as Hex (there are some references to the events in that book) but as a totally separate story. The very first section was utter nightmare fuel for me, though it slows down for a while after. But in my head I keep remembering things from the story, such as the background about the birds in that one town (don't want to spoil it, you'll know). Those sort of interesting smaller things always hook me.
This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you liked Hex you should really try it."
