Mia Sheridan
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Mia Sheridan comes the emotional, highly anticipated follow-up to Archer's Voice, following Archer's troubled brother Travis.Perhaps Travis Hale's past is riddled with regrets, but his future looks limitless. He's the police chief in idyllic Pelion, Maine, women are regularly falling at his feet, and his family has mostly forgiven his mistakes. But when the new guy in town crosses him, things start to look shaky—especially when he meets the stranger's smoothie-making, birdseed-eating sister.Haven Torres's life fell apart. Or, rather, burned to the ground. At the time, it seemed like a solid idea to jump in her car, her brother a mostly-willing co-pilot, and embark on a cross-country adventure for the summer. Especially if she can catch the attention of Pelion's most eligible bachelor, Gage Buchanan, before she goes. And after the local police chief tells her of her brother's scandalous misdeed, she knows without a doubt that Pelion is just another town where their stay is best short-lived.Still, she and Travis form an unlikely friendship, and at first, it seems simple enough. She'll help him make her brother sweat a little, and he'll help her win over Gage. But then Haven starts to see the man beneath the brooding, and Travis starts to see the woman beneath the mess. However, Haven refuses to be tied to Pelion. And Travis has vowed never to be second best ever again. Before they know it, simple has started to look pretty complicated.

"Very nice light read, just like Archers Voice but, I’d say it’s a little bit better"

"3.5 stars - This is a follow-up, but not a sequel, to the novel Archer’s Voice. I absolutely loved Archer’s Voice and had pretty high expectations for this book. It did not live up to my expectations. Honestly, there wasn’t strong chemistry between the characters and for the length of the story there wasn’t much to the plot. It was slow at times and didn’t do a good job keeping me interested in reading it. "
"This book was “meh”. I felt that my expectation and excitement plummeted in the first half of the book. I was hoping for more character and heart yet it did not deliver. I’m as close to not finishing it but somehow wanted to see if the plot picks up yet it was a mix of wishy washy story just for the sake of it. Archers voice was top notch yet this second book was like the total opposite. The only reason that kept me going was because I wanted to read more of Bree and Archer and that was just it. 😅"

"It was ok I don’t know why I was so slow with reading it but it was kinda boring in the beginning but I did love the characters and the small town romance. I recommend but most likely won’t ever reread it"

"Oh boy ... what to say, what to say... I think because Archer's Voice is my all time favourite book ever, I went into this book with extremely high hopes. I was excited to see how Mia could make me go from hating Travis to loving him ...

This book was just outright so boring. I mean SO boring. The plot was weak, the character development was alright, however, if I didn't absolutely love Archer's Voice, I would've DNF'd this book after 100 pages. I'm not sure how this book is ranked so high on Goodreads as it seems like everything was happening but at the same time absolutely nothing was happening in the story.

!!!!SPOILERS!!!!

Though Travis's character developed from being a ***** to being a guy with a "heart of gold", I had a very hard time connecting with both him and Haven. I couldn't get the horrible stuff he did to Archer in Archer's Voice out of my head and although he had apologized for it and made up for all of it with his actions, it all just seemed forced and slightly unbelievable. Haven on the other hand, I didn't like her from the start. Nothing about her personality stood out to me other than the fact that she is a plant lady. Her back story about her mother and the house fire was mentioned BRIEFLY which is probably why I had such a hard time connecting with her ... I didn't really get to know her at all throughout the book.

Another issue I had was that neither of these characters seemed to be doing anything throughout the entire story. Travis is the chief of police, you'd think he'd have a job or something to tend to during the day. Same goes for Haven. We got none of that in the story. It just seemed like they were doing absolutely nothing but socializing with each other and the town's people the entire time. No depth, just casual talk.

All in all, pretty disappointed in this story. I'm very sad I didn't end up enjoying it. I gave it a 2 star because at least the message in the end was good."
