Nora Roberts
#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts—hailed by Publishers Weekly as “a storyteller of immeasurable diversity and talent”—presents the first book in a trilogy about friendship, fate, and the mysterious ways of the heart. When Nell Channing arrives on charming Three Sisters Island, she believes that she’s finally found refuge from her abusive husband—and from the terrifying life she fled so desperately eight months ago…But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore café—and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd. But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him, for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she’s so carefully created could shatter completely. Just as Nell starts to wonder if she’ll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers under a terrible curse—one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692. And now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women—and the nightmares of the past haunting her every step—she must find the power to save her home, her love, and herself.Don’t miss the other books in the Three Sisters Island TrilogyHeaven and EarthFace the Fire

"Once again, Nora Roberts writes and enjoyable beginning to another of her wonderful trilogies. This one involves 3 women who have inheirited the powers of witches from their past bloodlines and what they choose to do with them. It has a great story of starting over and learning to believe in yourself and the romance is, as always, fantastic. I loved the characters, Nell and Zach and enjoyed their relationship. Can't wait to get into the second book of the trilogy to see what Zach's sister, Ripley, has in store for her!"
"I will be completely honest... I went into reading this book, even though I liked the concept of the book, thinking I was not going to like this book.... Because I was very against Nora Roberts. Yes that is my only reason. I have well and truly eaten my words and really enjoyed this book.

The book isn't perfect... As much as I enjoyed it Zack really rubbed me the wrong way sometimes. He tends to be very uncaring of how his behavior can trigger Nell's trauma and almost seems to treat her like she should get over it. I also was mildly frustrated with how time would lapse and you would have no idea it lapsed till someone reference how Nell had been on the island for whatever amount of time.

I truly enjoyed the vibes of the book, small town, sea side landscapes, tight knit community, baking, magic... I mean this book was a mix of all my favorite themes. I will definitely be reading the next book and will be thrilled to keep trying Nora Roberts books, even though I think I'm having an existential crisis."
