"I originally read the Vampire Chronicles as a teenager. I remember being enchanted by them. As an adult, I wanted to give Anne Rice another read-through, hoping that her legacy would be just as entertaining. <br/>What I've found is that the vampires are painfully pretentious. I cannot connect with them like I felt I used to. I don't read page after smutty page wishing it could be real. It no longer speaks to me in the way it used to; in fact, I find it boring, trite, uninspired. It's been a real disappointment for me, going back through these once-loved stories. Maybe I'll try them again a decade from now, but, for now, I'm pulling them off my shelves."
