Winner of a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Medal and the Boston Horn Book Award A simple, powerful book for children, about an absent father and the love he leaves behindEvery morning, I play a game with my father. He goes knock knock on my doorand I pretend to be asleeptill he gets right next to the bed.And my papa, he tells me, "I love you." But what happens when, one day, that "knock knock" doesn't come? This powerful and inspiring book shows the love that an absent parent can leave behind, and the strength that children find in themselves as they grow up and follow their dreams.

"Hello Danger
You’re in the woods in a cabin by yourself, and you let a stranger in during the middle of the night, then you go upstairs and hear more knocking and crashing to find two masked men. Then to find out the stranger isn’t who he said he was. Shocker. (Said with sarcasm) felt like I was reading a manuscript from the 1980s horror film, I am not complaining;I love the concept.

However, the book was too predictable. It’s dark with several triggers. Which normally I love. Madison is repeatedly sexually assaulted and falls in love with her captors. That does not to bother me.Long story short the triggers didn’t bother me.

The words just didn’t flow for me.. Too many inconsistencies. I can ignore the grammatical errors. Some more research would have helped this book. Especially with American slang, editor an alpha reader would also help."
