"1st Read (2017): 4* —> 2nd Read (2023): 3*

This was a nice way to finish my re-read of the Boy Series. Ironically, this book took care of most of my complaints about Boy #1 and #3 (even though this came before it). Even though Kate was jumping to conclusions at times, she eventually caught herself and let it slide as Jen calmed her down. (Unlike in Boy #1) The characters were also more openminded and caring, maybe due to their jobs, but it was really nice. (Unlike in Boy #3) So this topped it!

The only thing different about this is that I wouldn’t say it’s mainly a romance but maybe a mystery? The romance seemed like it came out of nowhere and was rushed, but I didn’t mind because I found the main mystery-ish to be more entertaining. I grew quite fond of Ida Lopez and her treats. It even inspired me to actually try these recipes irl as a fun recipe with my sister.

I think if the romance was introduced earlier with more Mitch perspective and gradual development, I might have loved it more. I just didn’t really see their chemistry going that much. Didn’t feel any sparks in this book.

This was an easy, funny, and cute read."
