"Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of books with a female protagonist so this was like a breath of fresh air. Right off the bat, I can say I loved this book. It’s definitely not for everyone, but it was for me. It’s basically like having a one-on-one conversation with the MC and cheering him along as he went. The characters were hilarious, settings were detailed, and the world-building was spectacular. Though, I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone who dislikes getting deep into Chinese media, lore, and terminology. At many times throughout the book, they reference things that you may not understand and would have to refer to the back of the book where they keep a glossary. If you don’t mind stopping to look up the meaning of random words, this book is for you. I’m so glad I made a Barnes & Nobles run to pick up the 2nd and 3rd books. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of this series😳"
