"This got a lot better. The writing style is still not great. But the idea and the plot gets more entertaining. I would've preferred more rounded out characters, most of the men are cookie cutter and I have to try and remember who we're talking about.
Definitely better than the first book, the action and story actually begin to get told."
"I finished this book, so I obviously didn't hate it, but I don't think I liked either. And I'm still not sure what happened in the book? Was this whole book really about a girl who is being hunted by a rebel force, going to school, and getting a waitress job? All out in the open? While being one of the single most easily identifiable individuals in her community? I literally remember her cafe shifts more than anything else. They were more exciting than who she was going to cuddle with every night. This book really showed the lack of world building and general information given to the reader. Maybe it had to do with all of the main and secondary characters being the strongest people around, but no one really felt powerful. The school setting never gave us any real lesson on how power works or what its hierarchy is. You can tell me our MC is the single most powerful thing around, but if everyone around her is too (and you aren't showing me the general population), then she doesn't seem that special or interesting. For a reverse harem about people who magically can not resist each other, there was very little spice. About as much as the last book. But this one lacked all of the forbidden touches and internal struggle. The characters all lost quite a bit of personality, too. Nox was really the only one who retained his individuality. Our MC became almost a different character. Her biggest trait became threatening to kill people while also crying about other women existing. And all the women other than her best friend Sage were evil, vindictive antagonists out to get her and her men. How weird to be in a world where your entire community has bonds, knows how volatile it makes people, and still decides to flirt with and seek out other partners. Most of these side character powers seemed hella interesting. But alas every woman that wasn't related to a bond or Sage was described as a "bitch" who only existed to anger our MC"
"The MC is still annoying as ever and the plot is still a bit nonsensical. If I took a shot everytime MC wanted to just die or kill someone…well I’d be dead. The series doesn’t seem to be getting better and I doubt I’ll read anything else from this author because I completely hated the writing style. "
"Good, but most of my questions from the previous book still stand. More world building!! We barely know anything of the world around except some mysterious resistance and we still have no clue what they even want or what they're fighting against. There was a revolt from an inner member of the council and we don't even know what they're really revolting. What is the conflict??? Relationships are great, characterization is good, angst is delightful, but, and I hardly ever say this, we need more plot. I have no idea what's even happening in this world."
