"I definitely liked this book better than The Very Lonely Firefly. I don’t know why but the story wasn’t as interesting and the firefly character wasn’t as likeable. Not in this case. I love the caterpillar. He is so colorful and cute. I also love the use of all of those bright and vibrant colors. The caterpillar started out as a small little thing. He was so hungry that he at through an apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries, and five oranges. He was still hungry so he ate his way through chocolate cake, an ice cream cone, a slice of cheese, on slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake and one slice of watermelon. He didn’t feel so well after that but after eating through a leaf he felt much better. He was huge and then he created a cocoon to become a butterfly. This book is a well done engineered book because it has the holes in all of the foods he ate. Librarians and teacher have read this book to me and have loved it every time. Ages 0-5."
