'Expect a white-knuckle ride to very dark places.' Paula Hawkins When a young woman is found dead, Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles are called to the scene of the murder. Though the body bears startling wounds, the actual cause of death is not immediately clear. A few days later, another body is discovered - a seemingly unrelated crime, but the lack of an obvious cause of death shows they have more in common than it would first appear. As Rizzoli and Isles race to discover the link between the victims before the killer can strike again, a mysterious person watches from the sidelines. She has the answers they're looking for. But she knows she has to stay quiet, if she wants to stay alive . . . 'A fast-paced, dark, edgy mystery/thriller filled with unremitting suspense.' Huffington Post

"3.5 stars, rounding up. Not my favorite of the series, plot wise. To me it was more predictable than normal for this author. But she's still a great writer who keeps me intrigued from beginning to end! Also, I love that despite being a series, each book also stands alone. I've read these out of order, but didn't care!"

"First off, thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book - received it in exchange for an unbiased review. This is the 12th book in the Rizzoli and Isles series and it is a great one! It starts with a horror film producer being found in her bed with her eyeballs in her hand and no obvious cause of death to be found. Then there are other deaths that are similar and are eventually linked together. I really enjoy the ongoing character development especially invoving Maura Isles and her homicidal birth mother and her illicit love with the priest. Fun and exciting and fast read - definitely recommend especially if you are a fan of this series."
