"Not very riveting at all, but a simple summer soap opera kind of book. There were a lot of unnecessary and long passages that I had to skip, even though I hate skipping parts of books. But the reason I did was because it was taking an eternity for Penny’s suicide reason to be revealed, and reading a description of some random Nantucket mother’s house felt so trivial. And then when the reason was finally revealed, it was anticlimactic to me. This book did a good job at making me feel terrible about the death of a young girl. I liked how the author portrayed how each loved one struggled with the loss. Jake’s grief was especially tragic to read. Overall I’d read another Elin book, but not my favorite."
