A claustrophobic, high-stakes thriller that will have you fearing what waits out in the cold.It was supposed to be just one night in the cabin: one night for Lottie and her brand new stepsister, Jade, to try to get along. When a solar flare causes a massive blackout—no power or cell signal—Lottie knows they've got a long night ahead of them. Then, in the dark, someone else shows up at the cabin—a stranger named Alex, claiming to be lost and needing shelter from the coming snowstorm. But later that night, Lottie spies him in the driveway talking to two mysterious men in a pickup truck, and she's sure he's lying about why he's here. Before Lottie can find out more, a fire forces her, Jade, and Alex out into the blizzard, where they must rely on one another to get to safety—wherever that is. In the remote, freezing Tahoe wilderness, they have to survive more than just the elements. Soon it becomes clear that Alex's accomplices are hunting for all three of them, in a scheme that's gone too far and taken a chilling, deadly turn.Perfect for readers who love:Mysteries for teensSnowy, atmospheric thrillersFans of Natasha Preston, Natalie Richards, and Karen McManus

"Don't Let in the Cold" by Keely Parrack is an exciting mystery that takes a deep look into human nature and keeps you on the edge of your seat. While the book starts with an interesting idea, it doesn't quite live up to its full potential, earning a 3-star rating. The story follows Emma, a troubled woman who moves to a quiet town to find comfort but ends up getting caught in a web of secrets as winter arrives. Parrack does a great job of creating a spooky atmosphere, describing the frozen landscape and making you feel the bone-chilling cold. The characters, especially Emma, are well-developed and interesting. However, the mystery's execution is a bit disappointing with uneven pacing and a rushed ending that leaves loose ends and doesn't satisfy fully. Some of the plot twists are also easy to predict, taking away from the surprise factor. Despite these flaws, "Don't Let in the Cold" still manages to entertain with its eerie setting and captivating characters, showing that Parrack has potential as a writer. With some improvements in pacing and execution, Parrack could create an outstanding thriller. Overall, it's a decent mystery that keeps you engaged, especially if you're a fan of atmospheric thrillers, deserving a solid 3-star rating."
"My previous review was too short, so I'm going to elaborate more.

I love a good winter survival story. Unfortunately, this book fell short of my expectations. To start, the main character letting random men into the house that she was staying in was completely unnecessary- aren't they also adults? I would've enjoyed this book more had it been a solo or duo survival adventure, or if it was a group adventure with funny and memorable characters.

From there, the story was written too similarly to those cartoons I would watch on TV when I was in middle school. You know, those snowed-in episodes where the protagonists let in all of their friends (or sometimes, random strangers, like in this book) into their log cabins during a winter storm. Then, a bunch of stuff starts to go wrong, and they have to work to get themselves out of these situations. The plot of this book is very generic and didn't really capture my attention. Overall, not for me."
"The twists and turns it kept leading to. The dramatic suspense of the mystery. Like who is he how did he get in. Very good book I recommend."
