"North of North has that “cozy chaos” energy where people are flawed and funny and figuring things out, but the vibe still feels hopeful. Watching it feels like hanging out with real people in a real community, not characters written just to hit plot points. Every character brings something unique and real to the table—it’s honestly such a refreshing shift from the overproduced shows out there.
The way this series wrapped up was satisfying, but there definitely seems room for more! — You can feel the potential for deeper storylines: unresolved tensions, blossoming relationships, and more town drama waiting to bubble up on Colin’s radio show.
It’s hard for me to pick just one favorite character — even though Siaja, the female protagonist has a fantastic personality and is both funny and gorgeous to look at, I also love the dry, deadpan humor of both Colin and his radio show sidekick, Millie.
It don’t hurt either that both of Siaja’s parents are “hotties” and lots of fun and a whole vibe as well — Neevee, the mom, has that no-nonsense fire with just enough sass — And the dad? Low-key heartthrob energy.🤩 It’s like every generation in that town has charm and baggage in equal measure, and it just works. I’d DEFINITELY tune in for a second season! #Bingeworthy #comedy

"4.5⭐️ Effervescent, deeply heartfelt and totally refreshing, this show about a young Inuk woman in search of who she is, her role in community and individual purpose, struck all the right chords for me. Set in a remote town deep in Canada’s arctic, it’s the perfect blend of very relevant and relatable modernity and traditional Inuk life, values, and culture. Yes quirky residents provide much of the lightheartedness but nothing feels false or played for effect. Authenticity oozes from almost every moment along with joy, color, and humor. But this show also deals with family issues, generational trauma, redemption, roles, identity, and more. It makes some points, lightly mocks, though never mean spirited nor knocking you on the head with good intent.
Lead Anna Lambe, previously seen in The Grizzlies (excellent movie!) is a breath of fresh air. Siaja is a smarter version of those hapless characters who try too hard, often blundering through life making loads of mistakes. Her ambitions getting the better of her only to ultimately turn out in her favor. She’s charming, sweet, optimistic, not entirely un-self-aware and someone you want to win at life. The rest of the cast is excellent too, serving their roles incredibly well. The story is meaningful yet briskly paced and the setting beautiful and unique. And I have to mention the cool, mostly Inuit soundtrack and stunning clothing designs. The jacket/sweater/boot game is strong lol. I dress for arctic winter if it’s below 60 and would trade all my boring puffers for just one of those looks 🤣 Perfection!
Ok so this is a quick, engaging binge. Never heavy, always hopeful. Emotional in all the right ways and tone. I’d say fans of Schitt’s Creek or (the underrated!) Rutherford Falls would appreciate this one too. Currently on Netflix and let’s hope more seasons to come!"
"How exotic! A tv series set in the far North of Canada where snow mobiles are the preferred transport and an elk shoot is a coming of age event for a child. Yaya(?) is a young mother who is unsatisfied with her marriage and the community restrictions. She acts out and then seeks change. Community standards must be considered. Interesting characters and well developed comedy with deep social roots."
"I love supporting native shows, movies, art etc. so when I saw this on Netflix I eagerly clicked play but I just have to say that I was not feeling the first episode, the pacing was unnecessarily break neck speed like they were trying to cram as much as they could into it as to set up the characters for the rest of the season and doing that gave the show a very mediocre feel imo. The episodes afterwards are much better because they do slow things down but it did make me a bit cautious, hoping they wouldn’t return that pacing again. Outside of that it’s a pretty entertaining show, there were moments that it gave me Rez Dogs feels and I absolutely love that show! From the quirky characters and amusing interactions to the small town feel and showcasing of Inuk culture, this show was a nice escape and I really hope it helps open the door to more native shows and movies."
"Cozy, comfort, chaos all in one. Binged in one day. Loved and want more."
