"Despite knowing the ending and the plot twists of this film due to its notoriety, it gave me absolute chills. I know everyone talks about the scene in the shower with Marion, but the moment that gave me the complete heebie jeebies was right after when they zoomed out on her unblinking eye with her face smushed against the bathroom floor. It was haunting. Anthony Perkins, though, made the movie. The way he could shift from slightly strangely endearing to undeniably eerie and unsettling was masterful. Norman’s dead-eyed stare (or should I say his mother’s?) will stick with me as one of the most unsettling moments I’ve seen at a film’s end in some time."
"Psycho still holds up today and I can’t see not holding up in the future. For as much as Hitchcock was an a-hole he made a before it’s time horror movie that you can feel to this day..ugh. But he’s dead so 🤷🏻♀️. Norman Bates is such a little creep I love it and is a good template for little creeps. "
"This classic Hitchcock film is the original first slasher film. Nothing like this was out before it or around it. I am not sure younger people can appreciate this fact enough. Hitchcock the master of suspense and his wife alma made an incredible film. Anthony Perkins gave us a performance for the ages. But really it was the movies music score that sent this into masterpiece status.
Which reminds me the same thing is true of original “Halloween” film, the movie score is such an important element making it scary."

"Really slow to start. The murders are really funny, like over the top with the camera work and the scary music and yet completely censored 😂 it’s funny to see what was considered scary back in the day. Makes you wonder what the future of the horror genre may look like and how much scarier movies could get in the future! The dissociative identity / transvestite stuff obviously doesn’t hold up well and clearly was the jumping off point for a lot of transphobic stories that came after. And it’s admittedly sad to think that this movie and the other flawed portrayals that came after is all mainstream audiences had to look at when learning about the concept of transness during this time period (apart from maybe a few talk show appearances featuring trans guests). Overall, it’s an decent, campy movie that caused a lot of damage to the trans community. Thank god we have more representation in terms of trans characters now, but we certainly still have a long way to go"
