Shiver: Junji Ito Selected Stories

"This is my favorite Junji Ito collection of what I've read so far. I'm slowly working my way through his other works as my library buys more of his manga. This is probably not the best horror manga for someone with a lot of phobias because this plays on a lot of body horror. Personally, I think he is at his best with his art when he delves into this type of horror but it isn't for everyone. I enjoy this collection the most because it has some of the most mind-boggling stories that stick with you long after you've finished them, making you wonder how Ito ever came up with these ideas. There's always a touch of realism to his stories, a bit of believability, yet also a bizarreness like no other author. Shiver is my absolute favorite by him. "Used Record" and "Fashion Model" are the most memorable."

"Some of my favorite Junji Ito stories are within this collection. A little bit body horror here, a touch of Lovecraftian Horror there. Some stories have simple told-by-the-campfire vibe, others are a bit more ambitious despite their brevity. The best stuff is naturally the most thought provoking and a good chunk of those can be found here."
