If A Court of Thorns and Roses had a baby with The Cruel Prince, this book would be said baby. Lots of politics and court/fae drama, with a touch of romance and a pinch of spice. Kenna was a strong and clever FMC, and I definitely liked her. The world building was fun, and I liked how the magic system was written. I was a little iffy when I saw that this book centered around trials, but Sarah Hawley put a fun and unique spin on them, which made it overall enjoyable. This book was pretty long, and it could be sort of slow paced at times, but it was an interesting read and I definitely don't regret picking it up! It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so be warned!"

"I will say that this book had a very compelling plot. One thing I did not appreciate was how the FML didn’t respect herself when it came to the love interest of this book. The Lustmance was very aggravating to read to say the least. (I say Lustmance because there was no love or romance in their dynamic) I miss books where a man years. I hate to see a FML think they deserve less than the bare minimum. I absolutely hated how desperate she was. I could’ve done without all the excessive debauchery in some parts of this book too. We are more than flesh and blood. More than sexual desires and pleasures. I wish the author understood that. Thankfully, the plot definitely pulled through at the end of the book. It was a very satisfying ending. Though I don’t know if I will continue the series. It reminds me of Fortuna Sworn and ACTOR. But at least Tamlin was loyal."
