Jodi Picoult
The #1 New York Times and national bestseller, Jodi Picoult delivers the gripping story of a daughter searching for her missing mother. Alice Metcalf was a devoted mother, loving wife and accomplished scientist who studied grief among elephants. Yet it's been a decade since she disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind her small daughter, husband, and the animals to which she devoted her life. All signs point to abandonment . . . or worse. Still Jenna—now 13 years old and truly orphaned by a father maddened by grief—steadfastly refuses to believe in her mother's desertion. So she decides to approach the 2 people who might still be able to help her find Alice: a disgraced psychic named Serenity Jones, and Virgil Stanhope, the cynical detective who first investigated her mother's disappearance and the strange, possibly linked death of 1 of her mother's co-workers. Together these 3 lonely souls will discover truths destined to forever change their lives. Deeply moving and suspenseful, Leaving Time is a radiant exploration of the enduring love between mothers and daughters.

"The twist in the plot did not work for me. But the sub plot was completely fascinating. The elephant research makes it almost worth the read<br/>"

"Next time I'm going through a rough patch with my reading (other factors aside), I should pick up one of Jodi's books. She's one of my writing idols. I just love that I can never predict what she's going to go with her stories. I did pick up on some of the clues but I kept brushing them off, argh! This book was right up my alley and I'm amazed at all the research that went into it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, slight morbidity and all."
"Unfortunately I was unable to finish this book. I thought that it was a good story but was slow at times. Because of my inability to become engrossed in this book, my digital loan ended before I could get through it. I may try to pick up where I left off but would rather find another book that will better hold my attention. <br/>18"
"LOVED this book. One star deducted for the twist ending - while interesting, it was unnecessary (and very un-Jodi like)"

"I loved this book! It was so different from my normal picks (I didn't really know it would be when I bought it). It kept twisting and turning while keeping me engaged with the people and elephants. I am sure it would not appeal to the masses like Jodi Picoult books usually do but for me it was a welcome surprise."
