And at the same time, it paints a portrait of his victims and a vibrant community navigating threat and resilience.

"This was a challenging but educational read due to the nature of murders that happened, but also because of the social injustices tied to both this timeframe, and specific murderer. I appreciate that the author focuses more on the victims than the murderer, and that the author did such a great job describing the 80’s & 90’s scene in New York. I found it to be much more educational than I was expecting it to be, and would definitely recommend this."
"If you have not read this, you need to. This is culture. It’s history. It is our story. Excellent and horrific. I loved how the author delved into the lives of the victims. In an interview I heard him say “if you know the victims, it’s impossible not to care about what happened”. He succeeded n writing a true crime book that was about the victims and not the killer. A MUST read. "
"This book is a well told story about a cold case from 3 states, it was so well written because it only focused two or three chapters on the killer and actually showed the disparity when it comes to how many serial killers get caught when it’s a person of privilege caught. But once it’s a queer person or a BIPOC, they kinda give up. It took these guys 15 years to get him behind bars serving two life sentences. The fact that the Rockland county Medical Examiner refused to hand over the evidence was ridiculous bc it was so well documented that the murders of Tom Mulcahy and Peter anderson were so similar. It’s just irresponsible policing."
