On a cold Sunday evening in early 1957, Sarah Dewhurst waited with her father in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station for the dragon he’d hired to help on the farm…Sarah Dewhurst and her father, outcasts in their little town of Frome, Washington, are forced to hire a dragon to work their farm, something only the poorest of the poor ever have to resort to. The dragon, Kazimir, has more to him than meets the eye, though. Sarah can’t help but be curious about him, an animal who supposedly doesn’t have a soul but who is seemingly intent on keeping her safe.Because the dragon knows something she doesn’t. He has arrived at the farm with a prophecy on his mind. A prophecy that involves a deadly assassin, a cult of dragon worshippers, two FBI agents in hot pursuit—and somehow, Sarah Dewhurst herself.

"DNF 50%

There was much more to this book than meets the eye. It became very strange I won't lie. While I appreciate the book opening your eyes to racism, sexism, corruption and homophobia it just seemed a little too much going on at once especially when thrown into a fantasy setting. It was as if the author was going down a list and checking them off. So with the checklist and the many POV's it was difficult to care for any of the charactersas I should. The plot was also all over the place. The writing style made me fill disconnected from the world and the characters. I heard there were so great twist but I just wasn't feeling it."
"Personally I loved this book, it had great world building with the dragons and an amazing diverse set of characters. My favorite character is definitely Malcolm and I adore the development he gets. Though o do find I like the pacing of the first half of the book over the second. Overall it was a great read."
