Darynda Jones
New York Times bestselling author Darynda Jones is back with the first novel in the brand-new snarky, sassy, wickedly fun Sunshine Vicram series—A Bad Day for Sunshine!"Laugh-out-loud funny, intensely suspenseful, page-turning fun."—New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennan"A Bad Day For Sunshine is a great day for the rest of us."—New York Times bestselling author Lee Child Sheriff Sunshine Vicram finds her cup o’ joe more than half full when the small village of Del Sol, New Mexico, becomes the center of national attention for a kidnapper on the loose.Del Sol, New Mexico is known for three things: its fry-an-egg-on-the-cement summers, strong cups of coffee—and, now, a nationwide manhunt? Del Sol native Sunshine Vicram has returned to town as the elected sheriff—thanks to her adorably meddlesome parents who nominated her—and she expects her biggest crime wave to involve an elderly flasher named Doug. But a teenage girl is missing, a kidnapper is on the loose, and all of this is reminding Sunshine why she left Del Sol in the first place. Add to that the trouble at her daughter’s new school, plus and a kidnapped prized rooster named Puff Daddy, and, well, the forecast looks anything but sunny. But even clouds have their silver linings. This one's got Levi, Sunshine's sexy, almost-old-flame, and a fiery-hot US Marshal. With temperatures rising everywhere she turns, Del Sol's normally cool-minded sheriff is finding herself knee-deep in drama and danger. Can Sunshine face the call of duty—and find the kidnapper who's terrorizing her beloved hometown—without falling head over high heels in love...or worse?

"At first, I thought the imagery was a little cheesy and too perfect but I ended up falling in love w/ the writing style. It’s serious storyline of kidnapping, rape, and murder could use lighter tones and I appreciate it. The characters leave you wanting more and I didn’t want it to end. Thanks for the hangover. "
"Well good thing this is a series that already has the second book out, because I am sucked in! I love Sunshine, and Auri is a very close second, and their adorable Gilmore Girls-esque relationship is a not-so-distant 3rd. And don’t even get me started on Quincy...yes, I’m aware I’m not supposed to love that male character most but you know what, I’m contrary. Just try to tell me how to feel, and I’ll do the opposite because I can!

Also, Del Sol was the epitome of quirky, and honestly despite the weirdness I’d love to live there. But seriously, I’m in love with New Mexico (mostly Santa Fe) but I would take slightly north if I could afford it. So the setting works.

And finally, we’ve crossed off characters (check), and place (check), so the remaining must-have is a fast paced plot, this this one got full marks. I love a mystery and this had multiple (and one that I’m going to have to keep reading to get!), so no complaints here.

I’ve already picked out my bottle of wine for the next novel (it literally has Chardonnay in the title, so you don’t have to rack your brain hard to guess that one), and I can’t wait to dive in!"

"I really enjoyed this one! I actually listened to it as an audiobook on Audible but it was good. Mystery, playful banter, strong but not unrealistic playful banter and an interesting ending. I will definitely look for more books by Darynda Jones in the future. "
